The San Francisco city just speaks to me. Summer is a great time to travel and get away from the heat in certain places. After the first bit of summer flew by, I was so excited to travel with friends and spend some time in the gloom.
We spent a total of 3 days in San Francisco and spent some of the driving time in other cities on the way. Even with the chilly 60 degree weather, we made most of the time we had and I would love to go back soon!
Day 1-
Our trip started at 5:00am on July 31, 2018. The car ride itself was so long and a lot of bathroom breaks were made. Our first stop was in San Luis Obispo for Bubble gum alley. It was pretty gross but a good experience.
Our next stop was at Big Sky Cafe. This was the cutest place ever. It just tickled my aesthetic. The food was delicious and the service was so friendly. I highly recommend checking out the big sky cafe for breakfast or lunch.
Then we continued on the road to San Fran. After a few more bathroom stops we finally got to the city. After sunset we saw how cold it could get and we were not prepared for the 50 degree weather at night.
We stopped at an old antique arcade for a bit and got some cute fortune cards. We then went to pier 39 and saw some sea lions. After many pictures, we continued to walk around and found a super fun mirror maze for $5. The price was so cheap that we had to go in and it was definitely worth it. Later on we went to Boudin for an amazing dinner. I ordered a turkey sandwich and chili in a bread bowl and it was heavenly ✨.
We headed back to the hotel and went in the jacuzzi which was so relaxing. Day 1 was so much fun!
Day 2-
Our second day started around 8:00am and we were all so dead from the little amount of sleep we have been getting. We walked a few blocks to the nearest starbucks and ate breakfast there.
After breakfast, we drove to the golden gate bridge and took a bunch of photos while we walked across. It was so foggy that you couldn't even see the top of the bridge. Shortly after, we drove back and hopped on some cable cars that took us to China town. We ate lunch at a local restaurant in China town and it was a lot better than I expected. I think the restaurant was called dim sum but I'm not sure. We walked through China Town for a bit after.
Then we begun the long walk to Lombard Street. The view at the top was so pretty but there were a lot of people. We walked to the Ghirardelli factory afterwards. I got a box with 40 chocolates and some of my friends got ice cream. Since we were all dead after the giant amount of walking, we headed back to the hotel room for a quick break.
Finally, we went to dinner at a big restaurant on Pier 39. It was about 10:00pm after we got to the hotel after dinner and we were eager to go to the pool again. Except once we got there, we found out that it was closed. We all decided to go to the gym and worked out until 11:30. After getting back to the room and showering, all of us were so tired we just crashed.
Day 2 was eventful and so tiring!
Day 3-
As our last day was coming to an end, we embarked on our 8+ hour drive home around 8:30 am.
We left the city and headed for our next stop, Solvang! Solvang was a little danish town that was about 4 hrs away. After we reached Solvang, we walked around the shops and got something called Aebleskiver. It was really good according to some of my friends so definitely try it out. We then drove back to Carlsbad and got back around 11:00pm.
Even though day 3 was short on exploring, the car ride took forever and it was a good end to the trip.
Looking back on San Francisco, I realize all the fun I've had and I can't wait to go back again. Definitely try out everything we did if you have never been to San Fran and you'll have lots of fun.
Here's an edit I made of our San Francisco trip!
