I am guilty of collecting things I don't need. But let's face it, journals are sooo cute and you can never go wrong with having too many. With all of my leftover journals, I finally decided to put them to use by creating my very first doodle journal. Keep reading to find out some tips on starting a doodle journal and for a look through my first few pages.

Starting off with the journal itself-
I definitely prefer using a blank paged notebook for doodling because it will help make the images pop. However if you are just starting out and don't want to invest the extra money, then feel free to use any journal found laying around. A lined notebook can be just as great and it's all up to your preference.

A simple trend-
I begun by doodling the basic but adorable cactus/ succulent theme that has been taking over social media for the longest time. I found some ideas off of Pinterest and altered them to what I liked.

Incorporating paints-
My next page was just something I came up with while I was looking for ideas. I was digging through my closet and found watercolor paints. I knew that I had to incorporate them into my journal. I absolutely loved how this turned out especially as the colors flowed together so nicely to mimic a sunset. Feel free to get creative and add colors, paints, pictures, etc.

A story to be told-
The last page I will be sharing is a basic drawing that has such a big message within. Live life with a simple attitude and don't spend so much time dwelling over the past. Doodling is a great way to tell any story and can spread positive messages.
Overall, I definitely recommend to start a journal (of any sort) just to appreciate the little things. I hope you enjoyed looking through my beginning journal and I can't wait to share more with you. Thanks for reading!
